Fall of rapeseed harvest in this season is related to:

1) crop rotation,

2) seasonal climatic conditions.

When sowing rapeseed more than once in a five years, a high degree of disease development is observed. In 2020, Sclerotinia rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum), grey mould (Botrytis cinerea) and verticillium wilt of rape (Verticillium longisporum) were observed. The disease complex has caused about 20% to 50% yield loss this year. The situation is related to favorable weather conditions (humidity, long, relatively cool spring). Moreover, this year rapeseed bloomed for a long time, in many places for one month, which is very favorable for the development of Sclerotinia rot. However, the main reason for high level of disease development is unsatisfactory crop rotation and non - control of cruciferous weeds. The best crop rotation is sowing rapeseed in the 5th year after the previous rapeseed harvest (see picture below). It should be added that club root of crucifers (Plasmodiophora brassicae) may also be limited due to good crop rotation. Proper crop rotation and balanced feeding of rapeseed ensure higher yields from smaller areas and lower consumption of plant protection products.
